How To Choose A Store For Your Registry, Bridal Or Other
There are a lot of things to keep in mind if you're looking to create a registry, bridal, baby or otherwise. Especially if you've never registered before, it can be a very daunting task, even just choosing which store to register with. The following are some criteria to keep in mind that will help you make the best decision.
What stores do you love?
You probably don't want to be choosing (or receiving) a bunch of gifts from a store you never shop in regularly. Opt for a store that you are already comfortable with (and hopefully love) that you know has merchandise that suits your personal taste and style. Also, it will be easier to create your registry in the familiar environment of a store you already shop at.
Do they have everything you need?
It's a good idea to find a store that has all or most everything that you are looking for on your registry (bridal, baby or whatever). This will be more convenient to both you and your guests. However, it's also considered acceptable to register at two or even more stores if there are some special items that can't be found at your main store.
How helpful and experienced are they in registry?
A quick look online will give you an idea if the store you are thinking of has well organized registry programs. Some have very little information provided and seem less organized. Some are extremely thorough and reassuring and the website alone gets you excited for creating your registry.
Also, make sure it's not a store that you've have bad experienced with in the past. You don't need to be dealing with less than friendly or helpful employees while creating your registry.
Is the store convenient to your guests?
You may have a favorite specialty store that you're excited to register with. If that's the case, they may not have stores located conveniently to your guests, or they may not offer online registry and gift purchase, or delivery. Keep the needs of your guests in mind when selecting your store(s). This might be a good time for choosing a second store to register with, and one that's convenient to more of your guests.
What types of incentives do they have?
Some stores offer a long list of „freebies” when you register with them. In some stores, along with registry bridal or engagement pictures may come free! They might offer a free wedding website for you to update your guests on. Very good stores have excellent online tools to help you plan and organize not just your registry, but various other aspects of your wedding such as invitations, seating arrangements, etc.
Also, look into the stores' completion program to find out what kind of discounts you can get on unpurchased items after the event, and how long those discounts are available. Some have great programs, other don't have any completion program at all.
By considering the above criteria, you will be able to make priorities and narrow down your options to ensure that you find the perfect store with which to create your registry.
